Friedrich Liechtenstein: Bad Gastein – Record Release Konzert & Party

Fast ein Jahr haben wir an “Bad Gastein” gearbeitet. Das sollte jetzt endlich auch gefeiert werden.

Friedrich wird das gesamte Album live performen – und zum ersten und wahrscheinlich einzigen Mal werden auch HEAVYLISTENING mit auf der Bühne stehen. Dazu gibt’s Sänger- und Tänzerinnen, Streichquartett, eine Videopremiere, eine Unplugged-Darbietung der grössten Hits gemeinsam mit Arnold Kasar, jede Menge DISCO und – natürlich – eine Dusche auf der Bühne.

Es wird ein denkwürdiger Abend. Ihr solltet kommen.

Ihr habt ja recht. “Bad Gastein” ist keine Ansammlung von Tracks, sondern ein echtes Konzeptalbum und als solches ohnehin schon völlig aus der Zeit gefallen. Dann kann man es auch gleich auf CD und Vinyl rausbringen.

Wir haben uns also nach dem grossartigen Empfang, welcher der im Juli erschienenen Download-Version des Albums beschert wurde (“Meisterwerk” – Der Freitag, “Monolith” – Die Welt, “Grösster anzunehmender Glücksfall” – Süddeutsche Zeitung, etc. pp.), spontan entschlossen, uns mit dem wunderbaren Berliner Label Staatsakt zusammenzutun, um unser gemeinsames Herzensprojekt auch auf altbewährtem Wege zu veröffentlichen.

Am 17. Oktober 2014 ist es dann endlich so weit, aber CD & Vinyl LP können schon jetzt auf Amazon vorbestellt werden.

Bei nächtlichen Zugfahrten durch das Belgien der 50er, als Kommissar d’Amour in den Alpen oder als alternder Go-Go Dancer im Seniorenheim – diese Songs waren immer dabei.

Fast ist es soweit: am 25.07. erscheint Friedrich Liechtensteins Konzeptalbum BAD GASTEIN – produziert von uns. Um die Wartezeit auf sein Herzenswerk etwas zu verkürzen, gibt es ab heute die zweite Vorab-Single des Albums exklusiv auf Noisey/VICE zu hören und überall digital zu kaufen.

Dieses Mal zeigt sich Liechtenstein als “Kommissar D’Amour” von seiner unwiderstehlichsten Seite. Es ist eine laue Sommernacht im “Monaco der Alpen”. Im Telefonat mit einer verflossenen Geliebten lässt der gealterte Entertainer seinen gesamten Charme spielen. Er startet eine letzte große Verführung…

Wie immer haben wir keine Mühen gescheut, um den härtesten Entertainer der Welt im musikalischen Edelkitsch glitzern zu lassen. Aber hört einfach selbst auf Noisey.

Ab sofort kann das Album auch bei iTunes vorbestellt werden. Den „Kommissar“ gibt’s dann als Sofortdownload gleich dazu. Wer das Album direkt bei uns kauft, bekommt dazu auch noch die erste Single „Belgique, Belgique“.

Mit leichter Verspätung nach BAD GASTEIN

Wir können es kaum erwarten, euch Friedrich Liechtensteins neues Album – sein Opus Magnum BAD GASTEIN – endlich zu präsentieren. Umso mehr bedauern wir, mitteilen zu müssen, dass sich die Veröffentlichung um ein paar Wochen verschiebt.

BAD GASTEIN wird am 25.07.2014 erscheinen, anstatt wie geplant am 06.06.

Wer das Album bei uns vorbestellt hat, bekommt seinen Download-Link natürlich trotzdem wie versprochen eine Woche vor dem offiziellen Release, also am 18. Juli.

Es tut uns wirklich sehr leid, euch auf die Folter spannen zu müssen. Damit die Wartezeit aber nicht allzu lang wird, haben wir etwas Kleines vorbereitet. Einfach ein wenig Friedrichs Hüftschwung bewundern und es ist im Handumdrehen Juli:

Vor einigen Jahren verloren wir die Lust daran, Musik zu produzieren und konzentrierten uns fortan auf Sound Art und Konzeptkunst.

Bis letzten Herbst, als uns Friedrich Liechtenstein ein Angebot machte, das wir nicht ausschlagen konnten. Als er uns auf dem Dach seiner Eremitage in Berlin-Mitte empfing, um uns sein Herzensprojekt BAD GASTEIN vorzustellen, war klar, dass wir einen zukünftigen Popstar vor uns haben. Wie schnell dann alles gehen würde, hat uns aber doch überrascht.

Heute ist die Videopremiere von BELGIQUE, BELGIQUE, des ersten Tracks aus Friedrichs im Sommer erscheinendem Konzeptalbum BAD GASTEIN. Das Präludium zu etwas sehr großartigem. Co-komponiert, gespielt und produziert von HEAVYLISTENING. Veröffentlicht auf HEAVYLISTENING Records.

Wir sind zurück im Popzirkus. Und es fühlt sich super an.

WOW @ Incubate

We’re excited to announce WOW will be installed at this year’s Incubate Festival in the Dutch city of Tilburg. And yes, there’ll be performances as well. Not just one, not two, not three… but six full blown performances of your favourite multi-channel sub-bass installation.

This time we’ve also brought along a few fellow musicians to join in on the turntables. Carl will start the installation and will then be joined by no other than A Guy Called Gerald, A Place to Bury Strangers, Front 242, Las Kellies, Sculpture, Mantra, Harmony Molina, Bersarin Quartett, Neige Morte & more!

Needless to say, the guys at Incubate are true bass connoisseurs and have promised us some of the heaviest equipment currently available. You have been warned. Three of these dates will include audience participation*, which means we’re going to create a collective HEAVYLISTENING experience!

We’re really looking forward to what looks like the most fun version of WOW ever, so if you’re in the area there is really no excuse not to drop by.

WOW shortlisted for Berlin Art Prize

We’re happy to announce that our WOW project – the most minimal record ever made, created by Carl Schilde – has been shortlisted for Berlin Art Prize 2013. There will be three winners in three categories, including Best Concept, and we sure hope to be one of them. The organisers seem to follow a strict no bullshit guideline, which is quite refreshing:

“The three, deliberately simplistically titled categories express an oppositional standpoint towards the tendency of over-theorizing in the reception of contemporary art.”

There are also three things to look forward to now,
all happening on June 22nd, from 6pm:

The award ceremony, including pleasant surprises for 3 of the 28 nominees – that’s more than 10%!
The opening of the shortlisted works’ exhibition, which will include our Mother Of All Records.
Another wall-shaking sub-bass performance by us, using four record players and four WOW records.

Oh and of course there’s also an after party. If you want to attend, you’ll have to join the facebook event to RSVP, or you won’t get in!

3 crazy projects. 2 incredible years. 1 new website.

Wow, it’s really been two years since we figured that ol’ sound art needs a little image makeover – and founded HEAVYLISTENING.

In the meantime, we’ve had 12 boom cars pump out sub-bass below an art museum made of glass, turned Twitter data into an ongoing, interactive real-time composition, had Berghain staff install an internet connection for our show, sold vinyl records with only one sine tone on them, became the world’s most minimal DJs, and created The Mother of All Records. We won at Prix Ars Electronica, got interviewed about topics we hadn’t heard of before, and even created one of 2012′s most memorable memes –– Wait, only two years?!

It’s about time to put all of this together and give our ideas and projects a new home. We strongly believe that presenting conceptual art on the internet in a way that doesn’t completely suck is possible. And we sure hope that’s exactly what our new website does. This website.

HVL @ CTM festival

We are happy to announce that we’ll take part in this year’s CTM, Berlin’s yearly festival for adventurous music and arts. We are honored to join the ranks of Sunn o))), Matmos, Simian Mobile Disco, Robert Henke and many other great artist who will perform at the festival.

WOW live performance.

On Jan 25, we’ll perform a 4 record setup of WOW, the most minimal record ever made, as part of the CTM pre-glow night at Horst Krzbrg. It’s the first time we’ll actually play those ultra-low sine-tones ourselves instead of having the audience spin them for us. It’ll be a totally new experience, even if you’ve already been to one of our previous WOW installations.

Expect some massive sub-sonic wave fields to experience with your whole body. Feel free to move around during the performance to explore all the subtle facets of the bass.
